JAMIAH ROGERS (Chicago, USA)

Jamiah was born on April 21, 1995 in the southern suburbs of Chicago. His mother sang and his father played many instruments, most often choosing the guitar. At the age of three, Jamiah started playing drums, immediately on three “fronts”: at school, church and in his father’s band (The Tony Rogers Band). From the beginning, he was interested in combining genres: blues, funk, rock, reggae, soul and R&B. His idols quickly became: Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Freddie King, B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters.

Although he started playing drums, at the age of 7 his parents encouraged him to pick up a guitar, and his dad started giving him lessons on how to play this instrument. In this way, Jamiah, like his dad, became a multi-instrumentalist. He can play drums, guitar, bass, piano and organ, but he loves guitar and drums the most. He formed his first band, a power trio called Jamiah on fire & The Red Machine, at the age of 15. He played guitar and sang in it. Together with his father, they are a composer-producer tandem. They have released two albums: “Taking the stage” (2012) and “Winners Never Quit” (2015).

They perform mainly in their home state and country, but they have also performed in Canada (at distinguished festivals: the Trois-Rivieres en Blues, Ottawa Bluesfest, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Festival International du Blues de Tremblant, and Sherbrooke Blues & Roots Festival) and in the Netherlands . In 2018, Jamiah toured Europe with singer Annika Chambers’ band as part of the “the New Blues Generation” tour. In May 2020, it was supposed to appear for the first time in Poland and neighboring countries… but this did not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic. The tour finally took place in May 2022. In November 2023, he will visit our part of Europe once again.

Jamiah has released one solo album, Blues Superman (2017), based on the concept of a super-hero to save the blues and keep it alive. As a young bluesman, Jamiah is often asked what he sees as the future of the blues. His response is: “The blues are doing well; there is no question of dying!”
