VOO VOO (PL)

A year 2015 marks 30 anniversary  years since  one of the most original, most creative and hard-working teams in the history of Polish music and songs – VOO VOO was formed. The group consistently carries a “that’s how the world’s pulse is” (with an accent both on the world – in the sense to learn from many cultures, and with a focus on  the pulse – in the sense of the vitality of its work).

On the tracks recorded by VOO VOO, you can hear  various music worlds, now considered to be classics, for e.g.: Djivana Gasparyana, Jan Garbarek, Tom Waits, Paul Simon, The Beatles, James Brown, Robert Fripp, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, John McLaughlin, Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane. But above all – a very personal and individual world of VOO VOO. Because most outstanding – and always written in a simple language – the work of this team are still an inspiration for creative exploration of contemporary music. The current composition of VOO VOO is composed by: Wojciech Waglewski – composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer and music producer; Matthew Pospieszalski, instrumentalist and composer, music producer; the rhythm section, which is the heart of the team is represented by Karim Martusewicz – bass guitar, double bass and Michael Bryndal – drums.

There are 35 regular CDs in artistic achievements of VOO VOO and consistently every year nearly 100 concerts! Clue to what VOO VOO is, is a very open formula of music-making. Each of the subsequent albums of Voo Voo is an extraordinary musical journey towards different parts of the rock world, but often it exceeds the boundaries of rock. Voo Voo also creates a great and unique musical performances – the most important one is Voo Voo W Kamieniołomach (1995) and a concert at the castle in Janowiec (2005). VOO VOO records and performs in duets, in the strict composition, and with prominent guests.

The band was accompanied by: K. Nosowska, U. Dudziak, AM Jopek, A. Orthodox, Senegalese M. Diouf, J. Peszek, Fisz, M. Staszczyk, L. Janerka, Abradab, M.Maleńczuk or A. Zout Gralak. Very interesting project was a fleet of united forces – the best sing Voo Voo, where the leading vocalists (including K. Staszewski, St. Sojka, M. Maleńczuk, G. Sweet, L. and T. Janerka Lipnicki) sang songs of Waglewski .

 

On the 30th anniversary of Voo Voo , the group released the 35th album „Dobry wieczór” (Good evening). This time the band went to a long journey – to Azerbaijan. It is where Alim Qasimov comes from, who honored the band Voo Voo, accepting an invitation to participate in their latest recordings. Alim Qasimov is a standout figure. Awarded on numerous occasions, for. e.g. by the International Music Council of UNESCO , for his unique vocal talent. UNESCO’s awards is one of the highest honors in the world, is reserved for the most outstanding artists.
