Niki Buzz

Niki Buzz is a respected American guitar player and drummer. He has been a multi-instrumentalist with a wide musical interests since his childhood. In the 60’s and 70’s, of the last century, he worked, among others, with James Brown, Ike and Tina Turner, Parliament- Funkadelic, Ramones, Patti Smith, Talking Heads, The Shirts, Mink Deville and Curtis Knight.

In 1982 he created his own rock formation Vendetta, and two years later the legendary band M-80 with Don Costa -Ozzy Osbourne band’s bassist. In late 80’s he was a session guitarist and rhythm programmer at Planet Studios in New York, where he recorded, among others, with Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Chaka Kahn, Kid Creole, Coconuts and The Village People.

Currently, he lives in Europe. He plays in several bands, including his own project “Play Like Jimi” where he plays and sings Jimi Hendrix’s songs. He founded his own record label Blackdust Records and created a recording studio. A few years ago, his name was put on the “Blues Hall of Fame.” His concert tour cover the entire world.

The cooperation of Niki Buzz with Dr. Blues / Krzysztof Rybarczyk – well known a blues performe from Poaznan / began during a meeting of the two musicians on the Polish Day of Blues in Poznan, where Niki performed with the Soul Catchers band, and Dr. Blues with project Dr. Blues Super Session. Both are big fans of classic blues and soul and the giants of such music, especially singer Wilson Pickett. On the basis of a coherent musical interests they came up with the idea of creating a special, unique program of soulful blues and joint performances with the repertoire of the legendary singer appreciated in the 60’s of the last century.

During a joint tour in July 2013 Niki Buzz with the accompaniment of Dr. Blues & Soul Re Vision (from Poznan) and Bobbie “Mercy” Oliver [USA] with the accompaniment of the Wielka Łódź recorded a double album: “Dr. Blues – Tribute To Ol’Skool Masters”, which at the beginning of 2014 was appreciated in the most prestigious blues polls, on the portal bluesonlince.pl and in the quarterly magazine Twój Blues and was named the best Blues Record of the year 2013.

Dr Blues & SOUL RE VISION

In the summer of 2011, on the initiative of Krzysztof Rybarczyk / Dr Blues /, leader of the legendary, existing since 1984, WIELKA ŁÓDŹ band, playing blues in the traditional chicago style – a new group called Dr. Blues & Soul RE VISION was formed. The group plays music based primarily on classical black music of the 60’s oscillating around early soul, rhythm & blues and blues. It is fully saturated with the blues vibe, despite the fact that virtually all the songs do not have a traditional blues music form.

A group leader – Dr. Blues / Krzysztof Rybarczyk / – a vocalist and a guitar player, is a fan of black music and sound from 40’s and 70’s. Interpreting soul and blues standards he feels absolutely confident on stage, creating natural and direct contact with the audience thanks to the bassist Joasia Dudkowska.

Dr. Blues has been performing, since the 80’s up to present days, blue in a Chicago style with WIELKA ŁÓDŹ band, which is considered to be the most stylish group of this genre in Poland. However, his musical interests also include other genres of music being derived from the blues trunk, in particular: the classic rhythm & blues and early soul.

The program of Dr Blues & Soul RE VISION group covers the vast majority of the most interesting, the most well known and popular standards of soul and rhythm & blues, most dynamic songs in even dance character, usually a little forgotten. Of course, during the concert, one will also hear a few ballads. This group’s concerts create an undoubted opportunity to listen to the music that became a basis to the modern Rock and R’n’B. Dr. Blues & Soul RE VISION is currently the ONLY group in Poland that performs music in classic soul and rhythm & blues style.
