Uriah Heep is one of the last remaining giants of classic British hard rock. Formed in the late 1960s, they helped shape a uniquely melodic and progressive form of heavy metal. Their debut album Very ‘Eavy, Very ‘Umble (1970) introduced a signature sound: Hammond organ, harmony vocals, and Mick Box’s wah-wah guitar. Songs like “Gypsy” and “Bird of Prey” became genre-defining tracks.
Their 1970s success was marked by gold-certified albums Demons and Wizards, The Magician’s Birthday and Sweet Freedom. The band’s rich harmonies earned them the nickname “The Beach Boys of Heavy Metal,” and influenced bands like Queen and Sweet. Throughout the decade, they toured extensively and achieved strong chart success.
With 25 studio albums and over 40 million records sold, Uriah Heep’s global appeal grew steadily. In 1987, they became the first Western rock band to perform in Moscow, playing to 180,000 fans. Despite lineup changes, the group maintained remarkable consistency, with guitarist Mick Box joined by Bernie Shaw (vocals) and Phil Lanzon (keyboards) since the late 1980s.
Their latest studio album Living the Dream (2018), produced by Jay Ruston, was praised for its powerful songwriting and authentic Heep sound. It confirmed the band’s creative vitality even after five decades in the business.
Today, Uriah Heep stands as one of the few heritage rock acts still doing what it takes to stay truly relevant—touring globally and releasing high-quality, full-length albums. For Mick Box, it has never been about competition. It’s about spreading joy, energy, and positive spirit through music. After more than 50 years, Uriah Heep remains strong, inspired, and proudly timeless.
During the European tour in the summer of 2025, Uriah Heep will perform in the following line-up:
