The blues bands’ contest – who will compete this year ?

8 bands will will take part in a blues bands’ contest duting SBF 2016. The Programme Committee has chosen the best groups which will compete to win a Grand Prix.

3rd edition of the blues bands’ contest which will take part during Suwałki Blues Festival will be a pass to European Blues Challenge (organized by European Blues Union).

From 13 Polish bands, the Programme Committee consisting of:

  • Jan Chojnacki – Polish National Radio Channel 3 – chairman of the Programme Committee
  • Bogdan Topolski – Artistic Director of Suwałki Blues Festival – member of the Programme Committee
  • Andrzej Jerzyk – Forum Okolice Blues, Centrum Kalisz Radio – member of the Programme Committee

has chosen 8 finalist who will compete during the Festival. Here is the list of the bands:

  1. HOT TAMALES (Kraków)
  2. 4 ACOUSTIC (Kielce)
  3. ELEPHANT RESIDENTS (Kraków)
  4. MARTA SZEFKE GROOVE BAND (Trójmiasto)
  5. MANFREDI & JOHNSON (Wrocław)
  6. RASPBERRY HILLS (Bielsko – Biała)
  7. BLUES BASTARDS (Wrocław)
  8. HOLY WATER (Łomża)

The bands will compete to win the President of Suwałki Municipality’s 10 000 PLN prize, statuette and the qualification to be the Polish representative at the European Blues Challenge 2017 in Denmark.

At the end of the rehearsals we will hear the following bands:
on Friday 08.07 KEEGAN McINROE (USA) & THE ROAD BAND (LT), on Saturday 9.07 – TORTILLA (PL).

8 and 9.07.2016, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., stage at M. Konopnickiej Square, admission free
