Nocna Zmiana Bluesa, founded in 1982 by Sławek Wierzcholski, is Poland’s longest-running blues band. Over four decades, they’ve released 28 albums, including collaborations with blues legends like Charlie Musselwhite and Louisiana Red. They’ve performed worldwide—in the USA, Europe, and Zimbabwe—sharing stages with B.B. King and the Blues Brothers. Their unique style blends blues, folk, jazz, and original songwriting. Wierzcholski, a harmonica virtuoso, authored most of the band’s repertoire and two harmonica instruction books. Notably, he’s the only musician to play the Mariacki bugle call on harmonica, broadcast live on radio. Concerts feature hits like “Szósta zero dwie,” “Blues mieszka w Polsce,” and the audience-favorite “Chory na bluesa.” Their performances are a vibrant mix of energy, joy, and reflection, showcasing the enduring vitality of blues in Poland.
